VW hardened steel roll pin for differential cross shaft 111 517 181 A, This holds the diff shaft in place  it has a special zig-zag slot design for increased vibration resistance. An often over looked and critical part, which if it failed would be catostrophic. Considering the relative low cost it is worth replacing on rebuilds for more powerful motors and also syncro rebuilds.   Genuine VW one per Differential
