VW T3 gearbox bolts, do not really come to mind when thinking about gearboxes. Without these fasteners, your gearbox would not only leak but also fall apart under the stresses in the gearbox. Therefore it is essential that all fasteners are both clean and correctly torqued. This is why I clean the threads on every bolt that is used in my gearbox rebuilds, and I re-tap all of the cases.
