VW Cavity Wax Treatment Plan for VW T3 T25 Vanagon and Syncro. This is something I found many moons ago and now that I’ve found it again I thought id share it with you good folk . Cavity wax treatment is one of the best things you can do to keep your VW T3 alive and this is the original plan from Volkswagen showing all the treatment points for your wax of choice.
To start you will need a number of items A disposable painters overalls a full face visor and air mask for fumes and gloves. A compressor and an applicator gun and cavity hoses like in the pictures. A wire brush , scraper and some solvent rags and tissues for clean up.
Lots of wax comes in cartridges. This is the easiest and fastest way to apply the treatments. If you are using lanolin or something else try and get some old catridges and reuse them with your treatment of choice. I find the quickest and easiest way of applying it is in warm weather so this time of year is ideal.
Firstly give the underneath of your van a very thorough wash and scrape of any surface rust and wash again . Allow it to dry thoroughly before treatment. then apply your choice of wax treatment to the points in the pictures. To help the application of the wax its a good idea to place the containers in a basin of hot water to allow them to thin and be sprayed a sunny day also helps. After applying the treatment to all the points then give the entire underneath of the van a good coating. You cannot put on too much !! Once you are finished you can rest assured that your van is protected for the next few years.
There are many products on the market for preservation and rust protection by many manufacturers so the choice is yours. Personally I use Lanolin as a rust treatment and I like the fact that it is food safe and environmentally friendly as its made from Sheep . I might even put some up on the shop.
